As part of our series where we highlight some of the great teams of installers we work with, we’d like to introduce you to Antron Security – a security systems specialist that has been around since 1988. With a firm focus on customer satisfaction and finding the best, bespoke solution for each project, Antron provides a complete security service, from design and supply, through to installation and maintenance.

We spoke to Jamie Crane the Commercial Director at Antron Security to find out more.

Q: Which areas does your company cover?

A: We work predominantly in London, but we do also work further afield, such as Cambridge and Reading.

Q: What is Antron’s speciality?

A: Our speciality is integrated security solutions. So that covers everything from access control, intruder detection systems, and CCTV, Visitor Pass to turnstiles and high-level lift destination control.

Q: Why did you choose to work in security?

A: For me, it’s about the great natural progression that is available. I began my career as an apprentice electrician – and subsequently moved into security. When I was 19 I took a job with Antron and worked across projects and installations, doing several roles and have worked my way up to where I am today.

Q: What do you see as the biggest change in the security industry over the last few years?

A: Where to start? The most obvious one is the proliferation of AI and machine learning. But that’s not to forget the impact of IoT (internet of things), SaaS (software as a service), pairing systems with mobile devices, touchless systems (thanks to the pandemic) and another big one, interoperability.

Q: What does a usual day look like for you?

A: So, I spend my time co-ordinating on site for projects, working with our drawing teams, catching up with the installation manager, and generally just making sure that our teams have everything they need to perform to the best of their ability.

Q: What does your ideal customer or project look like?

A: What we love about this industry is that every customer is different. No project is ever the same, so we’re constantly working to find solutions to a customer’s unique challenges and creating bespoke security systems that perfectly meet their needs.

Q: Why did you choose to work with Inner Range?

A: In one word: Integriti. We absolutely love this platform – the capabilities it offers us, its quality and its performance. We’ve never had a single door failure using Integriti and over the years that is thousands of doors. And then there is the exceptional customer service. Inner Range has some of the best support we’ve encountered from suppliers. The team is always available and importantly, always willing to help, even when the issue isn’t with their tech. They just never give up and we work very well together.

Q: What is the one thing that would change your work life?

A: I think it would have to be physical robots and more machine learning – true learning. At the moment, manufacturers using artificially intelligent systems aren’t necessarily where they should be in terms of making the tech work as well as it could so that we can take advantage of the potential opportunities.

Q: What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on?

A: There have been several. But the one that springs to mind is AustralianSuper in Pancras Square. They are Australia’s largest superannuation fund and we supplied a fully integrated security solution that integrated with third-party systems and equipment, including access control, IP CCTV system, intruder alarm system and IP Entryphone system.
